Hi

I'm fairly new to kayaking but am loving it. I have a Tarpon 120 Angler which I take out in Poole Bay. I bought the yak second hand and am still trying to get my head around the seat.

Don't get me wrong, it's comfy and much better than any seats I've ever used in the past but I can only assume that something when wrong when it was installed.

The holes that hold the bottom pad in with the pine tree fasteners are directly on the edge of the recess in the hull - about 10mm from where they should be in my opinion. You push the fastener through but it pops out very easily and has caused the bottom pad to tear because then it just floats around between the pad and the hull.

Now, the pad is only held in by the two back fasteners and I'm worried if I ever do have an overboard, it could rip as it's not held in. Has anyone else had this problem or am I missing something ????

Thanks

Paul, sorry nobody from Wilderness Systems has replied. With out seeing a picture, it sounds like the seat was removed and reinstalled by the previous owner. The fastener should not just pop out like that. Do you have a kayak shop that sells Wilderness Systems near you? Maybe you can take some pics and post them?
The only issues I have ever had was with the seat back rest return bungee being too tight making it hard to raise, so I changed to a slightly longer one. As for the trees coming out, maybe removeing the seat and installing plastic washers that will stay secure to the underside, then clipping off the excess, or spaceing the seat slighty higher with more washers/longer hardware would help.
