Steve,

The Ride 115 is slightly longer and has a different hull thus adding the additional weight. A flat hull like the trident series uses less material and weighs less but is less ridged and has 100 lbs less capacity. The newly designed tri hull of the ride 135 and 115 have two pontoons and a center keel for better tracking. I have a Ride 135 and my next kayak will be the Ride 115, I love the series. Hope this helps!

Jay,

Thanks for the info, it has helped a lot!  I think the seating system is almost a "deal sealer" by itself. The more I look at it, the more It seems like a better kayak than the Trident.......Thanks again!

Hello Steven, I've owned the 115 for several months now and have enjoyed every moment. I paddled the Trident at the East Coast Kayak and Canoe Festival in Charleston, SC. It is a very nice boat and the decision realy depends on what you want to do with your kayak. I bought the 115 over the 135 because I mostly fish rivers. The 115 excels in moving water, second to none. I've fished tidal creeks and backwaters with no problems. I recently went with several friends on a 15 mile overnight paddle/fishing trip. I carried everything I needed either inside the kayak or strapped to it, no problems, even through very shallow shoal areas. Futhermore, I'm 240 lbs and I can stand with ease in the 115. if i was primarily fishing flat water, Iwould have chosen the 135. Yes, the 115 is a heavy kayak, but it is manageable. One last thing, on that river trip I mentioned, I beat the hell out of the hull on submerged rocks to the point I was scared to look at it. When i finally looked, i was very surprised at how few scratches and "dings" were actually there. SOLID KAYAK!

Richie,

Thanks for the info as well. I'm hoping the Ride 115 will preform well in the Pacific Ocean off the California coast. I see a variety of kayaks on the ocean out here and most seem to be Ocean Kayak or Malibu Kayak. The stability the Ride series boasts is apparent. This is one of the toughest choices I've had to make in a while. I would like to thank everyone for all their input. Thanks again, Steve off the Mendocino coast..........
