I have recently bought a ride 135 and am enjoying it.  I can stand and am getting more comfortable while doing so, and sitting it feels so solid i have no worries.

my stats: 6'4 300lbs

My only prob is this.  I have knee issues and am not quite as flexible as some due to some injuries overseas.  Be cause of this i cannot go from sitting to standing as of yet.  I am trying to figure out a way, but it is escaping me, the few attempts i have made have ended up with me in the water and my buddies laughing there ass off :D

Things i have attempted so far:

1. Simply placing my hands on either side of the seat and trying to bring my feet in and rock up onto them...  Results: No go, cant even get up to my feet.

2. Practiced for a while on the carpet at the house and realized that i can do it, if i only use one hand which means that with as heavy as i am, it will lean to much and splash.

I am wondering if there is a aftermarket item that might help me get from a sitting to a standing position(and back to a sitting) that wont break the bank.

Thnx in advance.

lol, nothing?

Tie a nylon strap to the front handle and put a loop in the end close to you. Use this to pull yourself forward and up to get into the standing position.

Ashley is right on what I do and I have a high center of gravity too.  I use a larger bow line with a loop instead of a strap my problem is getting down gently which the rope solved that problem.

Cajun Paddle Tools in Louisana makes a stand up bar for the ride 135.  It sells for about $150.  You can see it on their website:  cajunpaddletools.com

Thnx for the help, ended up doing a double padeye with rope and some handles from a old workout machine, works great

Jackson cudas have a stap to grab onto tied at the front of the cockpit to help you pull yourself up. I stole the idea and put one on my ride. I have bad knees and it fixed my problems

maybe you could try installing a set of these giving you a lil more leverage with something higher than the seat?
