"Some information for you Aaron, The Endura 30 pound thrust uses 30 amps at full speed (#5); so say the folks at Minn Kota. Anything less than full speed 1, 2, 3 etc. will use less and may push your kayak almost as fast. Some experimenting with a…"

"I stopped at an All-State Battery the other day and they did have a small 12v 'utility' battery that was like 30-35mAh and it was also 100% sealed/water tight. Only downside is they wanted about $90 for it!"

DIY Commander 120 Trolling Motor Mount

Although there's a factory mount that's pretty inexpensive, I'm an avid DIYer so buying one is out of the question :) I'm also planning to make several slidetrax accessories, so I just bought a 4'x4' sheet of polypropylene which was enough to make this and all the accessories. The design came from a combination of pictures I found online and some old fashioned trial and error. I don't have the exact…See More

"Not sure if you've came up with something for this yet, but I've had similar issues when first trying to mount my Minn Kota 30 Endura. At first attempt I thought the same thing, but you can "finesse" it on. Since the lip comes…"

"Hey Arron, I have a Tarpon 16 and was planning to do the same.  I would like to see some photos of how you mounted it.  I was thinking of getting the BPS small unit and perhaps trim the shaft down.  I believe the Minn Kote has that…"

Commander 120 Trolling Motor Battery

I'm getting the final rigging for my trolling motor wrapped up so I'm looking to buy a battery. My only real questions is if there are any smaller 12v batteries that will support a full day of use, or at least a morning or evening fish, so like 5-6 hours. I'm trying to keep the total weight down and maybe conserve some space, so I'd like to see if there's other option.I'd also like to get something that's a deep cycle only. I know marine/starter batteries are not meant for prolonged deep cycle…See More

Aaron Groom replied to Tom Bates's discussion Commander 140 fishing box w/ rod holders
"Very nice! I have a very similar setup with a milk crate and some homemade rod holders made from 1.5" PVC. However, I never thought to add the bungie cords, great improvement!"
