Ashley Williams replied to Vin Rodriguez's discussion need help with front hatch?
"How much of a leak are you having? No kayak company makes a 100% sealed hatch or storage system. There has to be some breathing room for moisture and heat buildup to escape. If it has to stay dry, it has to go into a dry box or dry bag."

Ashley Williams replied to Craig Andree's discussion Need Help with Commander Seat
"I've had a couple of Commanders and still use the C140 for everything. The seat will "float" above the bar a little bit when there is no weight on it but be assured it is snapped in. When you actually sit in it the seat will rest…"

Ashley Williams replied to Tavin Holman's discussion Tarpon 100
"Thats a quick use paddle holder up front. Run the blade under the disc and it will slide under the bungee for a secure hold when the need for a quick cast pops up. The other bungee I use for keeping small tools in place. It also helps hold the seat…"

Ashley Williams replied to William Patterson's discussion Scupper Hole transducer mount Tarpon 140
"Wow, thanks for the "thoughtful" disagreement in technique. I'm sure William appreciates his unit being called garbage just as much as I appreciate my 12 years total experience in kayak fishing summed up in such juvenile opinions as…"

Ashley Williams replied to William Patterson's discussion Scupper Hole transducer mount Tarpon 140
"I don't have any photos unfortunately. I'll try to clarify a little more. Take one section of closed cell foam, 1/2" thick and usually a section 4"x4" works well. Trace the ducer puck into the center of the foam and then…"

Ashley Williams replied to William Patterson's discussion Scupper Hole transducer mount Tarpon 140
"I've installed many transducers for people over the last seven years and prefer the in hull method just to minimize damage. Something I do different is I cut out a piece of closed cell foam to match the transducer shape and glue it to the…"

Ashley Williams replied to Lance Nicke's discussion Standing in a Ride 135
"Tie a nylon strap to the front handle and put a loop in the end close to you. Use this to pull yourself forward and up to get into the standing position."

Finally got my Commander 120!!!

My Commander 120 came in on Friday last week just in time for my birthday. Thanks Wilderness Systems and I really dig the sienna color! I got the rudder installed and threw on a couple rod holders I had laying around. I'll be doing the stern cover and anchor trolley next. This coming weekend I'll be chasing redfish on the fly and hope to get some pics up. We got three more Commander 120s in stock as well as more Tarpon 120s and Tarpon 100s at the Greenville location of Great Outdoor Provision…See More

Profile Information

About Me
I work with Great Outdoor Provision Company in Greenville, NC. I am a social worker full time and investigate child abuse.
Kayak(s) of Choice?
Had a Tarpon 140 for about 2 years that I really enjoyed. I'm getting ready to order a Tarpon 160 at this time. Maybe then I'll add a Commander to my collection in the early summer.
Accomplishments
I've worked closely with several kayak companies on projects related to kayak fishing. Several times a year I give seminars on kayak fishing. Annually I hold a "Meet and Greet" kayak fishing day for anglers in North Carolina to come out to fish and meet one another. It's the largest kayak fishing event in NC at this time. I'm also sponsored by Werner Paddles, Stohlquist Waterwear, and Great Outdoor Provision Company.
Favorite Places to Paddle
Fort Fisher, NC; Swansboro, NC; Oriental, NC; Morehead City, NC.
