MAKE A DRAG ANCHOR

Here is how I make my drag anchor. They are great for shallow grassy areas, slow moving rivers and other applications where a hard connection to the bottom isn't wanted.

Image

Here is what you will need to get started. Heat gun, lighter, offshore swivel, one foot section 3/4" chain, scissors, rope.

Image

Add a piece of heat shrink to prevent abrasion wear.

Tie it to the chain, select the desired size chain for the amount of…

INSTALLING A FLUSHMOUNT ROD HOLDER

Flush mount rod holders are great for flatwater and nearshore fishing if properly installed. Factory installed rod holders are generally installed in a standard position and angled out extremely wide. I prefer to install them myself. Here are a few tips and tricks I use when installing flush mounts.

Start by getting some eye black (or lipstick if you are into that) and mark the end of your rod. Sit in the kayak as you would naturally. Close your eyes and attempt…

NO DRILL ANCHOR TROLLEY (RIDE 135, TARPONS and COMMANDER 120)

Here is how I set up my no-drill anchor trolley. I use this system because it is quick, easy, inexpensive and doesn't make any permanent modifications to the kayak. This set up can be easily removed and used on another kayak as well.

You start by creating two loops with the pulleys. This can be done by sewing the line or using hog (cage) rings.

I prefer to sew the loop. Install a piece of heat shrink before sewing to cover the… Continue

Paddle Bungee Ball (Quiet Paddle Stowage)

Here is a modification that I have been doing for a few years, it is a Nerf ball placed on the bow bungee for quietly inserting the paddle to stow it instead of using the side paddle docking point. This makes the paddle easy to access for quick adjustments and easy to put away to fight and land fish.

Start by removing the forward bungee and replace the stock rubber ring with a Nerf ball.

Drill a hole through the ball.

Hi Chad
The photo of you and your son with him holding a large mouth bass is a wonderful photo. And thank you for telling me about kayakfish@verizon.net for making me a great rain cover for my commander 120 outstanding. Ed

Chad, Jeff at Wilderness Systems says you have installed the Torqueedo Ultra light on a couple of your Tarpons.

I have a Tarpon 140 I want to intall the Ultra Light 401 on but I also have a flat platform behind my seat for my black lab to sit on and it goes all the way to the back and even around my Rudder slot.

I was wondering if you had a close up photo of the back of one of your Tarpons that has the Torqueedo Ultra Light installed.

Please Advise!

Thanks
