Launched my Tarpon 140 today. Wind was up, water was choppy, but to me it was a perfect day to test out this kayak. I had previously fished a Tarpon 160 for the last 8 years or so, but I wanted something slightly more stable for the unpredictable ocean conditions, and powerful pelagic game fish here in San Diego.I was pleased to feel like I could relax with more initial stability. I have a Tarpon 120, and it is kind fun to surf waves in, because it is shorter, and you can lift your bow on steep waves.

Chris Fierro replied to Hjalmar Larsen's discussion Tarpon 100 - wave riding capabilities"I used to launch, and land a Tarpon 120 in large surf, it was a lot easier than the Tarpon 160, because, you could lift bow when flying down the face. It was easier to steer too. So, I figure a Tarpon 100 would be even more wave friendly."

Got out for my usual Thursday afternoon/evening kayak fishing run, dirty red tide water on the inside, cleared up a little on the outside. Tied up to some kelp hoping for a sea bass, watched bait fly all around, but no fish for me, just another nice sunset.See More
