Hi All,    I just built a trailer to store and tow my wife and I's Tarpons on. I have the boats resting on padded pvc pipes that run parallel with the boat and line up with the channels. The boats…Continue

"Did you catch him on a spoon? I caught two off the coast of Jacksonville last year that were 38 and 40" and I caught them both with a 3 inch silver spoon in some bait pods."

"I keep mine flat on my trailer 99% of the time.  What can happen with yaks tied to a trailer for long periods is "oil canning" where a section of the boat gets pushed in.  This happens most of the time when the the boats are only…"

"Sounds like it will be OK -preferrable to rest them on the side, but as long as they are out of the sun, you should be OK. I wouldn't load alot of gear on top unless you are heading to the launch. How about a photo?    "

Best Way to Store Kayak

Hi All,    I just built a trailer to store and tow my wife and I's Tarpons on. I have the boats resting on padded pvc pipes that run parallel with the boat and line up with the channels. The boats are stored on the the trailer in the garage. Is this a bad way to store them? Will this cause my boats to warp? Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!See More

Humminbird 385ci Install on a Tarpon 140

I know that most people would go back and forth about actually buying a fishfinder/gps combo, but if you live in South Florida, paddle around any of the mangrove swamps, keys, or Biscayne Bay, I highly recommend it. So after some research, I found the one that worked best for me which is the Humminbird 385ci. I headed off to West Marine and as I am buying it, the associate asked if I knew that the same model came in a kayak combo for an extra $100 dollars...COMPLETELY WORTH IT! The…See More

"What did you use as a base trailer? I want to build on, but I don't know which way to go. I have thought about a modified double jet ski trailer. "

"Hi Steve,    I have a Tarpon 140...love my boat...but I did look at the Ride 115 before getting this boat. I probably would have gone with the Ride if I didn't live in South Florida and paddle long distances out into Biscayne Bay and…"

Parrish Henderson replied to Hjalmar Larsen's discussion Tarpon 100 - adding rudder system?
"If you are talking about the Harmony Rudder system, I really don't think it would be a big problem because all of the cables are adjustable. That $200 + price tag would hurt though if you couldn't return it. My suggestion, if you can, go…"

Parrish Henderson replied to Hjalmar Larsen's discussion Tarpon 100 - adding rudder system?
"I don't know about the 100, but I installed one on my Tarpon 140 and it made a world of difference. The only problem I can see you having is running the cables if there aren't pre-drilled holes for it. The 140 has pre drilled holes with…"

About Me
I grew up in Florida but didn't really get into fishing (fly fishing) until after being medically retired from the Army (16 years of service) due to injuries sustained in action a few years ago. I moved to Philadelphia and found fly fishing and fly tying relaxed me and helped me deal with stress. My new job re located me to South Florida and after realizing there are a lot of great places to fish that you can't get to with a regular boat, I decided to purchase a Tarpon 140. I love being on the water and having the ability to be on it year round. If anyone from S Fla would like to share some good spots, I would be glad to listen. Thanks.
