Gulf Coast Oil Spill Changes Inshore Fishing (Updated 5/31/2010)

Wow, I can only imagine how the inshore fishing has been damaged beyond belief in Louisiana . Here in Florida we can only cross our fingers and hope that the oil does not come ashore. For now, I am lucky to live and fish on the Space Coast. My heart goes out to all kayak anglers in LA. I see that Ducks Unlimited has started to mobilize their members to take action. We need to keep the pressure on all government officials at every level to clean up this mess.

2010 Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Classic

I just want to thank Wilderness Systems and their JAX retailer, Black Creek Outfitters, for their continued support of this great charity event. Four Hundred Thirty anglers competed for $80,000 in raffle prizes and awards. Over $45,000 was raised for chairty. This is the worlds' larger kayak fishing event. Two anglers from the UK traveled to Jacksonville to compete. What a great weekend.

1st Annual Indian River Paddle Classic

Under overcast skies with the wind blowing out of the southwest, 70 kayak fishing anglers competed in the first annual Indian River kayak fishing tournament with proceeds going to Coastal Charities. The Paddle Classis was a Catch-Photograph-Relase (CPR) event. The Brevard Zoo, Strike Zone Fishing, Grills Seafood and Tiki Bar, Hook 1 and DriGrip were some of the many sponsors who donated tournament prizes and items for the Captain's Bags. Prizes and trophies were awarded in the Redfish, Trout,… Continue

IFA Kayak Fishing Tour

I received an email the other day from Bart Schad, Inshore Fishing Association Staff Member, inviting me to attend the 1st Annual IFA Kayak Fishing Tournament. I was excited to receive this, but after reading about the tournament and thinking about all the tournaments where prize money was given out, I decided to opt out. I have a few reason for not attending. I feel the entry fee of $100.00 is too high. I do not like the idea that Hobie is probably bank rolling the tour big time. What would I… Continue

Welcome to the site. I agree on Hook1...Karen and Mark have always been huge supporters of events in Florida....I have been gone for a couple of years, last living in Tampa....but east coast fishing in the river and lagoon system was always my favorite.
