- I am a disabled veteran with more than 13 years of active duty in Marine Corps Aviation followed by more than 25 years service in law enforcement, currently with the VA State Police. The wife and I spend most of our off time flyfishing from our kayaks. We have lived in Wilderness System Boats and recently purchased a pair of Commanders, PREORDERING before the release.

- I loved my Tarpon 160i, but had to move to another yak on a docs recommendation...
We have four Commanders, a Sienna and Mango 120, The Carbon Fiber 120, #1 of 25; and the kayakbassfishing Camo 140 shown on the Wildy site here.... We love the wildy line and Tina makes the custom covers for the Commanders that are gaining popularity at an amazing rate... all the way into canada! Sweet huh? - Accomplishments
- Both a citation smallmouth and citation largemouth this year on the fly... both from the kayak. The largemouth on a fly tied by the wife. She is a very skilled fly tyer.
- Favorite Places to Paddle
- Sandy River Reservior and a large farm pond we know of, where even the bream are monsters.

Night Fishing Sandy River
Got together with some friends Saturday night for some night fishing on a local reservoir. We honestly weren't expecting the fishing to be great, just a sliver of moon and it was the wrong time of the cycle for night fishing, but hey, that's why it is called Fishing and not Catching.

An Amazing Hookup
Snuck out to a favorite spot for a bit of Largemouth froggin Sunday, since we had gotten a nice slow rain the night before and I had hoped that it would cool down the water a bit. We have had a long dry stretch as far as the bite has gone in this honey hole, with nothing, literally nothing, for nearly a month.

Kayak Fly Fishing
Fly Fishing..... it's not for everyone... but it could be. The long rod has it's own rewards. A day spent fishing and no hook ups to some is seen as a lost day. But when I spend a day flyfishing and don't hook up, I look back on the day.. and I see success.
I see the cast where I did everything right, and the cast laid in just perfect. The cast went exactly where it was suposed to and the fly landed as pretty as you please. Success. I remember the perfectly timed…
