Took my new Tarpon 100 out in the Back Bay for some Bass fishing since the eco system has recovered very nicely over the past couple of years. Caught 4 early in the AM and 1 late PM with an old Jitterbug top floating lure.
Planning on going again tomorrow to see what I can stir up before heading to the beach with the family.

I arrived at my put in a few weeks ago looking forward to a good tide and hopefully a few fish on the end of my line. As I pulled up I noticed another fisherman getting set up for his days adventure. I quickly pulled my kayak out of the back of the truck, loaded my milk crate in the tankwell, stored my rods and then moved my truck out of the way so as not to block the small put in.
As I walked back the other kayak angler was still setting up. "Wow! That was quick." was his greeting…

Fished La Jolla last night after work. Lots of bait popping all over, water an off color green. Slight windy conditions... was glad I was in my new 09 Tarpon, loving the stability! no fish caught, hope to get out this weekend, depends on home projects!

Hullavation Baby !
Got my Thule Hullavator a few weeks ago. Makes my life pure genius in terms of getting my seaworthy vessel ported !
All I gotta do is get the yak out of the water and to the Hullavator cradle. Not the easiests of tasks for a Shorty but do-able. Thank goodness for the very kind and sometimes cute guys standing around the ramps who will give me a hand !

Then the Hullavator takes it from there.…

I used my Harmony Lasso Security Cables last night while the car with kayaks sat in the driveway. What a great product. I have the size for my wife's Tsunami 135 and my Tarpon Angler 140. It was very easy to set the code for the locks and they are extremely easy to use with the loop around the front and back of each kayak and the cable wrapped around the cartop crossbars. I have hte kayaks on the car at work and they are being used even as I write this. I was concerned about security if we…

During the past week Joe and I have been getting a ton of Bonita on our offshore trips. So we got the idea lets go camp out and paddle the Bonita out for shark bait. After we got in from the trip and we talked to Hale (the owner of Eagle Parasail and the owner of the boat Joe and I run for the business) about doing the camping out and shark fishing and he got all excited he wanted to take his wife and his 2 kids out there too. We planned to get out Saturday afternoon we got all the stuff…

This past weekend was the NCAngler Meet and Greet III. Think last head count at the launch was 50 kayak anglers came out to spend some time on the water, fishing and meeting others who share their passion about kayak fishing. The event was held at Fort Fisher which is near Wilmington NC. It is the end of the road after passing Carolina and Kure Beach. The area where most fish is separated from the Cape Fear River by a long wall, the other side is kept from the Atlantic Ocean by a strip of…

Does anyone have info about setting crawfish pots off of their kayak. I have a Tarpon 160 which is perfect for the task. The problem is i have never done it. Any advice?

Got to try out the '09 Tarpon 160 in sloppy windy conditions, performed excellent! I especially like the drink holder, came in handy! This boat is a lot more comfortable for me, because it is slightly more stable, which I like, especially in those conditions.
I hope to see all the SOCAL WS Team members tomorrow at our kayak fishing tourney benefit!

When I checked the mail today I got my July/August Bassmaster magazine. There is a picture of two kayaks sticking out of the back of a pickup on the cover and a feature length article about Bass Via Kayak inside. Right in the middle of the article is a full page add of our very own Jeff Little and the add looks even better there than it did in last months issue. There is also and article on a do it yourself kayak cart and several other mentions of kayak fishing throughout the magazine. The…

Well I have to say that Tarpon Season in the keys has been truly spectacular this year !
Conditions have been near perfect for many days with large numbers of tarpon lounging about. I have managed to jump quiet a few baby and small tarpon this season actually getting one near 40lb poon to my yak after quite a Flats Sleigh Ride. Actually got a hand on the leader, which is unusual for me because usually those concrete jaws spit my fly right back out after a few jumps.
Now…
