Sputtering Spinnerbaits for fall smallmouth bass!

Fall in the north eastern United States means the river smallmouth put on the feedbag preparing for the long winter when food will be scarce. Appeal to the smallmouths “need to feed” by sputtering spinnerbaits!

In-Depth Review (with pics) of the 2012 Wilderness Systems Ride 135

Great early review of the all-new 2012 Wilderness Systems Ride 135 by Palmetto Kayak Fishing.

Excerpt:

The seating system coupled with the floor layout is genius.  In other kayaks I have owned, I run into a common problem - there never seems to be enough leg room for me from the seat to the foot pegs.  I have historically had to modify the design of the foot pegs to make my legs more comfortable, but the Ride’s configuration worked perfectly right out of the…

November 20" smallmouth, wintering hole "Smackdown"

by Juan Veruete

Kayak Fish PA, LLC

It was a great day of fishing with enough action to keep me warm even with the air temps dipping into the low 40's. The highlight of the trip was a 20" fat fall bronze back. Despite the cold water, the fish made several leaps and even cleared the water once before I could bring the fish to hand. The fish was a fitting exclamation to an action filled late fall trip.

I caught this big girl on a… Continue

I end my Guided Kayak Fishing Classes in October so now it's time for me to chase some fat fall smallmouth! Quite fortuitously, I was presented

with a unique opportunity...

"No Name Lake" Friday Evening 11 June...

Photobucket

I got out to "No Name" around 4:30pm or so yesterday with the intent of tying to find a few of the bigger green guys than my last trip out there. Got everything all set up and set out onto the water... within the first three casts I had two strikes at the Heddon Super Spook Jr. in the "Florida Bass" color. neither one resulted in fish... I wasn’t sure if… Continue

Mo' Bass Takes up Snow Kneeboarding on the Road

Unofficial Wilderness Systems Pro member Mo' Bass decided not to stay inside over the icy weather this past weekend. Rather than ice fishing, he took the next obvious alternative - Street snow kneeboarding from the back of a pickup truck.

Wilderness does not condone this particular activity, but does give Mr. Bass a thumbs up for considering safety gear. We hope he's ok based on the… Continue

Road Trip Peacock Bass

Written by Bill Schultz, Wildy Fishing Team Member

After a few months of another “old time” winter in Wisconsin and not having fished open water for over three months I was getting a severe case of cabin fever. The first week of February I was in Naples, Fla., running a conference. A friend from Wisconsin, Steve Starr, who now calls Ft. Lauderdale home, said that if I had time while in Florida, to drive over to the Ft. Lauderdale area for some peacock bass fishing. He didn’t have to… Continue
