I have 1995 Chesapeake and was wondering if anybody else owns one of these great yaks?Mine is the 36 pound fiberglass model with camo deck. It's great in small meandering streams and on open water and is light enough to portage.I use it in the backcountry of the Adirondack Mountains and it performs well.I know that they made some of these of Kevlar but since I acquired this yak,I have not seen any others out there.

Hi Terrence,

I just found your thread while looking for info on setting up the Chesapeake for fishing I to have the camo version which I bought from Jersey Paddler in Bricktown NJ. In all the years I've had the kayak I haven't seen another one on the water or even in a store. I've been researching ways to up grade the kayak with a better seat and add on's for fishing but even WS hasn't been able to help me. I'd rather not retire this boat it is well built and very functional but with the lack of options I'm running out of reasons to just upgrade. I also have a Hobie Outback and the kayaks are so polar opposites that I wanted to hang onto the Chesapeake for those places that the Hobie doesn't excel, ie small weed filled ponds or lakes and small shallow streams but I keep running into a brick wall when it comes to options and accessories to make it a better fishing kayak. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've had mine since 1998.

Thanks, Roger

PS. I live in NJ
