Here is how I make my drag anchor. They are great for shallow grassy areas, slow moving rivers and other applications where a hard connection to the bottom isn't wanted.

Here is what you will need to get started. Heat gun, lighter, offshore swivel, one foot section 3/4" chain, scissors, rope.

Add a piece of heat shrink to prevent abrasion wear.

Tie it to the chain, select the desired size chain for the amount of current or bottom substrate, cover, etc.

Fold over tag end to be held in place by heat shrink.

Slide heat shrink over chain.
Image
Position so that only the top half of the top and bottom link is exposed.

Use the heat gun and shrink tubing over chain.

Connect the offshore swivel to your rope to prevent twisting when retrieving the anchor. Use this short section to attach to a longer anchor rope or connect directly to your anchor shuttle.
